Meet the Team
Cyndee Crompton
President, Owner & Lead Occupational Therapist OTR/L, SCDCM, SCLV, CDRS

Cyndee Crompton is the president, owner, and lead therapist of DRS. Cyndee attended undergraduate school at North Park College in Chicago and received degrees in mathematics and psychobiology. She obtained her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. After completing her internships in Seattle, Hawaii, and Washington DC, she began her career as a therapist in an acute care setting in Honolulu, HI. She then relocated to Greensboro, NC where she began a driving program at Moses Cone Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. She was also the team leader for the outpatient neurology-based therapy team, responsible for program development, personnel growth, and retention. Cyndee started Driver Rehabilitation Services, P.A., an independently owned business, in August 1997, in order to work full-time in the area of driver rehabilitation.
Cyndee is a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS), A Certified Driving Instructor (CDI) and holds Specialty Certifications from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)in Driving and Community Mobility (SCDCM) and Low Vision (SCLV). She has a post professional Certification in Low Vision Rehabilitation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She maintains membership in the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) and is often a presenter at the annual national conference. Cyndee also enjoys lecturing at North Carolina Universities to occupational therapy students and speaking to local special interest groups. Cyndee conducts driver rehabilitation services including prescriptions for driver training and vehicle modifications. She oversees all aspects of a client’s driver rehabilitation process from beginning to completion.
Chantel Hill
Office Manager

Chantel serves as the Office Manager for DRS and oversees administrative processes including communicating with referral sources, managing client intake, scheduling services, and disseminating reports. Chantel holds a Bachelor of Science from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Prior to her work with DRS, she has varied professional managerial experiences including over 20 years of customer service in the hospitality industry and coordinating various types of meetings and events.
Caroline Brooks
Senior Occupational Therapist, CDRS

Caroline is an occupational therapist, certified driver rehabilitation specialist and state certified driving instructor. She conducts driver evaluations and provides behind the wheel training to individuals with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or visual impairments. Caroline lives in Wilmington and serves clients in the eastern part of North Carolina. Caroline obtained her undergraduate degree at East Carolina University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation services and a minor in psychology. She then worked as a habilitation technician for 1 year before obtaining her Master of Science degree in occupational therapy from Winston Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC. Caroline’s early employment was as a school-based occupational therapist, where she was responsible for providing evaluative, consultative, and evidence-based interventions to individuals with diagnosis including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. Just prior to joining the DRS team, she joined Cyndee as an OT for a national driver’s research study under the DOT and NHTSA, implementing visual scanning interventions to older adult participants. This led to her knowledge and interest in Driver Rehabilitation and shortly after the research project concluded, Caroline joined our team. She has been a member of our team since November 2019.
Emily Grace Conlan
Occupational Therapist

Emily Grace is a licensed occupational therapist. She attended Mercy University in New York for both undergraduate and graduate school and obtained her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2023. She completed her Level 2 Fieldwork on the inpatient rehabilitation unit at NY Presbyterian Hospital and in The Bronx working with underserved families and youth. As a new graduate, Emily Grace began working as a travel occupational therapist, and has worked and lived in Minnesota, Virginia, and Maryland. She has experience working with individuals with cognitive impairments, orthopedic injuries, strokes, TBIs, MS, Parkinson's Disease, SCIs, and amputations. As an OT with DRS, she performs driver evaluations and trainings to individuals with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or visual impairments. She is located in Raleigh and is the primary therapist providing services for this region of the state.
Amy Lawrence
Occupational Therapy Assistant

Amy attended Durham Technical Community College where she received her Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy
Assistance degree in 2003. She began her career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a skilled nursing and short term rehabilitation facility, providing occupational therapy services to individuals with a variety of
diagnoses, such as Stroke, Joint Replacement, Amputation, Dementia, Traumatic Brain Injuries and Spinal Cord Injuries. She later worked in a continuing care community, providing OT services individuals, with a focus on safety and independence in they home environment. Amy took a break from the therapy world for a season, moving with her husband and
children to Afghanistan. There they served with an NGO, providing
humanitarian services to the local community for three and half years. Upon returning to the U.S., Amy began homeschooling her three children, focusing on creating a learning environment and structure to meet the needs of one child with learning disabilities and another with anxiety and ADHD. Amy reentered the workforce and rehab field in 2024, joining the Driver Rehabilitation Services team. As an OTA at DRS, Amy serves clients facing a variety of challenges, providing individualized driver training to help them achieve their goal of being a safe, independent driver. Amy lives in McLeansville, NC and serves clientele in the Triad Area.
Emily Prins
Occupational Therapist, CDRS

Emily is an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) and state Certified Driving Instructor (CDI). She performs driver evaluations and provides behind the wheel training to individuals with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or visual impairments. Emily is located in Charlotte and serves clients in this area. Emily graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, and a certificate in Arts in Medicine. She then attended Washington University in St Louis and graduated with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Emily completed internships in acute care, a continuing care retirement community, and at a therapeutic horsemanship barn working with individuals with variable diagnoses including Autism, Orthopedic Injuries, Dementia and Alzheimer’s, Stroke, Spinal Cord Injuries, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Amputations etc. Emily completed her doctoral research project examining the occupational participation and functional cognition of individuals experiencing homelessness. She has been a member of the Driver Rehab team since 2022.
Brittany Harris
Occupational Therapy Assist. State Licensed Driving Instructor

Brittany graduated from the Winston Salem University in 2010 with a Bachelor Rehabilitation Studies. She then attended Cabarrus College of Health Sciences receiving an associate in occupational therapy assistant in May 2014. Brittany currently works full time in the school system and has experience in skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehabilitation. She has experience with Autism, Cerebral Pasley, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Dementia, Brain Injuries, Amputations, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and Spinal Cord Injuries. As an OTA/L at Driver Rehabilitation Services, Brittany performs driver trainings for individuals with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or visual impairments. Brittany is located in Greensboro, North Carolina and serves clients in this area.
Chelsea Carré
Occupational Therapist

Chelsea graduated from Meredith College in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Health and Wellness. She then attended East Carolina University and graduated in December 2022 with her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. Chelsea completed internships in outpatient pediatrics, adult neurobehavioral health, in-patient rehabilitation and acute care, and in schools. The past two years, Chelsea has been working with the pediatric population and has seen a range of diagnose, including Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, fine and gross motor deficits, behavioral concerns and mental health concerns to name a few. She is very eager to continue her Occupational Therapy journey with helping adults find and maintain their independence on the road. As an OT at Driver Rehabilitation Services, Chelsea performs driver evaluations, driver trainings, and vehicle fittings for individuals with physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or visual impairments. Chelsea is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and serves clients in this area.
Our Vehicles
Vehicles used for conducting on the road driver evaluations and in car driver training are equipped with dual brakes, safety signage and extra mirrors. These are requirements set forth for all driving schools licensed by the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.
Wheelchair Accessibility
A Chrysler Pacifica Braun Conversion WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE vehicle offers state of the art technology.
This is a mid-tech vehicle with a variety of mechanical and electronic hand controls, steering orthotics, variable effort steering and modified secondary control options for functions like turns signals, wipers and headlights. The client is able to drive from their wheelchair or transfer to a 6-way power seat base.
DRS vehicles are also outfitted with adaptive equipment for use with clients facing physical limitations.

Driver Evaluation
A Driver Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s abilities as it relates to safe driving. It is the first step for all other services. The evaluation provides information regarding a person's capabilities and challenges for operating a motor vehicle. The process and testing varies depending on the reason the person is being seen.
Driver Training
Driver Training Services are available to individuals who have successfully completed a driver evaluation and received training recommendations from the evaluating therapist. To be eligible for training services a driver must have a valid learner’s permit or license. Teens under 18 need to complete classroom driver’s education via their high school and have a Restricted Instruction Permit (SBTS-800 form) provided by the drivers education instructor.
Vehicle Fittings
Vehicle fittings are an integral part of the vehicle modification process and assure proper fit and placement of all controls relative to the client’s driving position and abilities. Fittings assure the best interface between the driver, the vehicle, any assistive mobility devices utilized, and the driving controls. Vehicle Fittings are provided for individuals who have successfully completed a driver evaluation.

Quality Services
Driver Rehabilitation Services, P.A. (DRS) is a privately owned and operated business started in 1997 to meet the mobility needs of individuals with impaired driving abilities. DRS follows best practice standards as set forth by the National Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists. Services are overseen by a licensed Occupational Therapist with national certification as a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. Our lead therapist has over 25 years of experience in the field of Driver Rehabilitation.
Licensure & Professional Associations
Driver Rehabilitation Services, P.A. is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy and is also licensed as a Commercial Driver Training School by the State of North Carolina, Division of Motor Vehicles. Staff maintain appropriate licenses and certifications as required for assigned duties. Membership is maintained in the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists, the National Mobility and Equipment Dealers Association, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
